General Road came about initally via the General Store in Upper Beaconsfield.  Our family wanted to make a difference locally and took a General Store that had been around since 1885 and added a Cafe to an already extremely diverse business.  This led to local catering opportunities and rapid growth. We started employing Chef’s and Barista’s so we had the right people in place to do a great job for our community.

The opportunity to expand presented, and we added Over The Road restaurant, initially literally over the road in Upper Beaconsfield, before we moved the restaurant to its new home in Emerald.

Today our family employs over 45 staff in our Emerald and Upper Beaconsfield communities, predominantly locals, mostly made up of Baristas, Chefs, Bar Staff, Kitchen Hands, Waiters and Waitresses.  With an ongoing increase in enquiries to provide catering services, we made the move to formally provide catering and events services via the General Road.
